conversations with my shoes

so, it's been a while since I've posted, so here is the state of the Mango:
One the one hand, this isn't that surprising. Typically, it takes me 6 months to find my niche in a new place, and I've only been here 1 month. However, this is a bit extreme.
I work at a small (7 people) company. All are about 10 years older than me, with kids. Everyone gets there, works for 8-9 hours, eating lunch at their desk (everyone brings lunch, except the boss who goes out, buys lunch and brings it back to eat at his desk). No one really talks about anything but work all day.
I fence in a HUGE club. However, everyone just fences the whole time. There's very little conversation their either. Also, it seems that EVERYONE in the club is much better than me, which is impressive. (Only impressive that it's EVERYONE, I'd expect to be better that about 1/4)
I live alone, and don't talk to the girls who live upstairs much.
Basically I get very little real-time conversation. So, I've decided that I'm going to start talking to my shoes. They aren't great conversationalists, but they're better than the furniture.
